                      Who owns Princess Cruises?

Princess Cruises is owned by Carnival Corporation & plc

                      • It operates under the Holland America Group, which includes Princess, Holland America Line, Seabourn, and P&O Cruises Australia.

                      • The company is dual-listed (USA & UK).

                      • Princess eliminated assigned arrival times for embarkation as of August 2023.

                      • Instead, you get a boarding “window” shown in the Princess app.

                      • According to many guest reports, boarding often starts around 10:30 AM (especially for priority / early groups), with general boarding beginning around 11:00 AM.

                      • For the departure time, check your cruise documents; you typically must be on board by ~1 hour before sailing, per standard cruise practice.

                      • Sun Princess — the first Sphere-class ship, launched in early 2024.

                      • Star Princess — the second Sphere-class, made its maiden voyage in October 2025.

                      • The Sphere class focuses on sustainability (LNG-powered), with spacious design, The Dome (glass geodesic structure), and a modern Piazza.

“Best” depends on what you value (size, amenities, style). Here are some recommendations:

                      • For the newest / most modern experience: Sun Princess & Star Princess (Sphere-class) — large, lots of dining, high-tech, modern entertainment.

                      • For a more classic Princess feel: Older ships like the Grand Princess or Ruby Princess may appeal; they are slightly smaller (relative to Sphere-class) and can feel more “traditional cruise.”

                      • If you want a premium, relaxing experience, choose staterooms in the Sanctuary Collection (on newer ships) — they offer more exclusivity.

Princess has a Celebration Group Program for group bookings:

                      • You need 5 to 20 staterooms to set up a group under this program.

                      • Use either a Princess Specialist or a trusted travel advisor to help set up the group.

                      • Once the group is created, the staterooms are held for 60 days.

                      • There’s a “Princess Promise”: they commit to responding in 3 business days for group inquiries.

                      Princess Cruises is known for:

                      • High-quality service with a personal touch (thanks in part to their MedallionClass tech).

                      • Diverse itineraries: Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, Asia, world cruises, etc.

                      • Entertainment & innovation: The newer ships bring in more modern design, large theaters, new dining concepts.

                      • Relaxed but premium cruising: Not ultra-luxury, but a very refined “floating resort” feel.

                      • Sustainability moves: With their Sphere-class, they’re adopting LNG to reduce environmental impact.

It depends on your fare/package, but typically:

                      • Accommodation — your room / stateroom.

                      • Main dining room meals and buffet — standard fare includes these.

                      • Some non-alcoholic beverages (like water, iced tea) are generally included.

                      • Crew gratuities or service tips may or may not be included, based on fare / package.

                      • Basic Wi-Fi is not always fully free — Princess has its “MedallionNet” Wi-Fi system.

                      • Entertainment (shows, theater) is included.

                      • Additional paid extras: specialty dining, premium drinks, shore excursions, etc.

                      • According to Princess’s own FAQs, there are alcohol policy restrictions.

                      • For non-alcoholic drinks: you will generally find water, soft drinks, some juices included in standard fare. According to guest reports: without a drink package, only limited free drinks are “always included” (e.g., water, coffee, some juices).

                      • If you want more or better drinks, you can opt for their Plus or Premier package (more below).

                      • Main dining / traditional restaurant: Most basic fare includes access to the main dining rooms.

                      • Casual dining / buffet: Available and included for many passengers.

                      • Specialty / premium dining: Available at extra cost, or included depending on your package (like Premier).

                      • Room service: Available, but certain items (e.g., premium drinks / desserts) might cost extra depending on your plan.

                      Princess offers a wide variety:

                      • Entertainment: Theaters, live shows, music, performances.

                      • Pools, deck activities: Depending on ship, there are pool decks, lounging areas, maybe splash zones or ropes course (on newer ships like Sun Princess).

                      • Spa & fitness: Onboard spa services, gym, fitness classes.

                      • Sports / outdoor deck: On newer ships like Star Princess, there is a sports court, jogging track, etc.

                      • Kids programs (see next question).

                      • Main Dining Rooms: Traditional sit-down, multi-course meals.

                      • Buffet / casual dining: For more flexible, relaxed meals.

                      • Specialty Restaurants: Premium restaurants, themed dining, “a la carte” options.

                      • Signature / Exclusive Dining: On newer ships (Sphere class), there are special venues like Signature Restaurant, Signature Lounge, reserved for high-tier staterooms.

                      • Bars / Lounges: Many bars, pubs, lounges spread across the ship.

                      • Room Service: Available (with some free items, and premium paid items depending on package).

Yes — they use a system called MedallionNet

                      • It’s not just basic; higher-tier passengers (or those who choose certain packages) can get unlimited Wi-Fi for multiple devices. For example, with their “Premier” bundle, you get Unlimited MedallionNet 2.0 with Starlink & 5G for up to 4 devices.

                      • You can buy Wi-Fi separately if your fare doesn’t include it.

Yes — Princess has age-appropriate, customized programs for kids.

                      • These include supervised activities, entertainment, and dedicated kids’ clubs.

                      • For very young children, there may be babysitting / paid childcare in some cases (depending on ship) — check with Princess for specific itineraries.

Yes, most Princess ships have a casino.

                      • For example, on Star Princess, the casino area is expanded with a non-smoking section.

                      • Note: There are age restrictions for gambling; check Princess’s policy for each ship.

                      • Base fare: There’s no fixed “per person” price universally — it depends heavily on factors like the ship, itinerary, length, time of year, and cabin type.

                      • As a rough ballpark: many 7-day Princess cruises start in the low-to-mid hundreds of USD per person per day, though premium or longer routes cost more. For example, one Princess fare page shows $60/day for their “Plus” fare tier.

                      • On the higher side, for luxury cabins or long voyages, the cost can go up significantly (suites, premium routes, etc.).

So, overall, a moderate 7-day cruise might cost a few hundred dollars per person, but it can go into the thousands for more premium options.

Here’s what is generally covered in the standard fare:

                      Included:

                      • Your accommodation in the chosen cabin.

                      • Meals in the main dining room, buffet, and many casual dining venues.

                      • A limited selection of non-alcoholic drinks (like water, tea, coffee, and certain juices).

                      • Entertainment: theater shows, live music, “Movies Under the Stars,” etc.

                      • Use of pools, fitness facilities, kids’ programs, etc., are generally included.

                      • The MedallionClass experience (which includes the electronic Medallion device for services) is part of fare.

Not included (unless you pay for an upgraded fare/package):

                      • Alcoholic drinks, specialty coffees, soda, bottled water — unless you have a “Plus” or “Premier” package.

                      • Specialty dining (steakhouses, fine dining) costs extra.

                      • Shore excursions (tours at ports) are extra.

                      • Spa, fitness classes (if not included), medical services are extra.

                      • Gratuities (service charges) are not included in the standard fare — they’re automatically added daily to your onboard account unless you have Plus or Premier.

                      • Wi-Fi is not included in standard fare.

                      • Yes, very much so. Princess divides cabins into categories such as:

                      • Higher cabin types (like suites) cost more per night but also sometimes come with extra perks (or the value of added comfort is higher).

                      • Princess Plus fare: This is an upgraded fare/package (around $60/person per day for some sailings) that includes: a drink package (up to a limit), Wi-Fi (1 device), gratuities (crew appreciation), some casual dining, room service, etc.

                      • Princess Premier fare: More “all-in” — includes unlimited (within certain limits) drinks, more dining options, Wi-Fi for more devices, gratuities, and other perks.

                      • Captain’s Circle / Loyalty / Launch Savings: There are loyalty-based or promotional discounts. For example, early-booking benefits and “Launch Savings” are mentioned in their brochure.

                      • Sometimes you can get onboard credit or price adjustments: people report that after paying full, if the fare drops, Princess might cancel and rebook or give onboard credit.

Yes — not all costs are obvious when you first see the fare. Some “hidden” or additional charges to budget for:

                      • Daily gratuities (crew appreciation): Standard fare doesn’t include it; it’s added to your bill (~ US$17–19 per person per day, depending on cabin type) unless you have Plus or Premier.

                      • Service charge (often ~18%) on onboard purchases like specialty dining, drinks, spa, etc.

                      • Room service / delivery fees: For example, “OceanNow” (food delivery via app) has a delivery fee per order unless you have Plus / Premier.

                      • Port taxes, fees, and surcharges (these are often extra — depends on itinerary)

                      • Wi-Fi cost if you didn’t pay for a Plus / Premier package

Here’s an overview of what happens if you cancel:

                      • The cancellation fee depends on how far in advance you cancel, and also on the length of the cruise.

                      • For cruises 1–24 days, for example:

                        • Cancel 90 days or more before departure → no cancellation fee

                        • Cancel between 75-89 days → ~ 25% of total charges.

                        • Cancel 61-74 days → ~ 50% of total.

                        • Cancel 31-60 days → ~ 75%.

                        • Cancel within 30 days → 100% (i.e., no refund) for “all items” (fare + etc).

                      • Taxes, fees, and government charges are typically refundable if you cancel (depending on contract) but other parts are more complicated.

                      • For special promotions: if you booked a non-refundable fare, you might not get any refund.

                      • Yes — you can make alterations, but these are subject to change fees and policies. According to their terms, “alteration and cancellation by Princess” is possible.

                      • You should check your booking confirmation / passage contract, because your specific cancellation / change schedule depends on exactly when you booked, what fare type you used, and the itinerary.

                      • Yes — but how much depends on when you cancel (see the cancellation chart above).

                      • If you cancel early (e.g., > 90 days), you may get a large portion (or even full) refund of fare (excluding taxes or depending on contract).

                      • If you cancel late, refund may be zero (for “all items” fare) in many cases.

                      • If you pre-paid for excursions or onboard purchases, you will often get a refund for those.

                      • If you bought Princess Vacation Protection (their insurance), then cancellation for covered reasons (illness, etc.) may be handled under that plan.

                      • If Princess cancels your sailing (or offers a “significant alteration”) before departure, they may offer:

                        • A full refund of money paid.

                        • Or cruise credit (future cruise credit), depending on timing and situation.

                      • If they delay the cruise by more than 3 calendar days and you don’t accept the delay / alternative cruise, you are eligible for a refund of your “cruise fare and charges” including government fees.

                      • Yes — this is one of the typical use-cases for Princess Vacation Protection (travel protection). If you have that, and your cancellation falls under a covered reason (illness, emergency), you should be able to claim per the policy.

                      • If you don’t have such protection, then standard cancellation penalties apply per their cancellation schedule.
